# Can my bank raise my working capital limit mid-year when orders jump?

Yes. RBI asks banks to build three tools into their lending policy for micro and small enterprises: a separate additional limit for unforeseen or seasonal demand, ad hoc limits to be regularised within three months, and a mid-term review of regular limits based on sales since the last review, without waiting for audited accounts.

## Additional limit for demand spikes

At sanction or renewal, banks may fix a separate additional limit for temporary rises in working capital caused by unforeseen or seasonal demand. It is released mainly where there is sufficient evidence that demand for your products has gone up.

## Ad hoc limits

Banks may also sanction ad hoc limits within prudential norms. These must be regularised within three months of sanction.

## Mid-term review

Banks normally review working capital once a year from audited accounts, which arrive late. If your demand pattern has changed, the bank can review mid-term on the basis of your sales since the last review. The next regular review, with audited accounts, then confirms it.

## Standby credit for capital spending

When funding capital expenditure, banks may sanction a standby credit facility up front to cover unforeseen cost increases, drawn only if costs overrun, so your project does not stall.

## What to take to the branch

Confirmed orders, your sales since the last review and the stock and debtor position. A clear trail makes the evidence the circular asks for easy to accept.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible tracks energy use against output from your bills, so a rise in production shows up alongside the orders you present. It does not assess credit limits.
