# Our new plant started in October. How do we report its emissions for the year?

Include it from the day it started operating, and say so. The company total rises because of a new source, not worse performance, so show the new plant separately for the first year and use intensity per tonne for comparisons. Trial runs before commercial production still count.

## What to report

- Emissions from the start date to year end.
- The start date and that it is a part year.
- Intensity per unit of output, so the trend stays meaningful.

## Base year

A new plant is organic growth, not an acquisition. You usually do not recalculate the base year, but explain the jump.

## Commissioning

Fuel and power used for trials and commissioning are real emissions. Include them, labelled if large.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and production documents into dated, fingerprinted plant records, so the monthly intensity behind a figure can be traced to its source.
