# What is the carbon footprint of packaged coconut water?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/packaged-coconut-water-carbon-footprint

Packaging and transport often matter most. Count the nuts as bought, then cutting and filling, pasteurisation or cold processing energy, the carton, PET or can, chilling and delivery. Husk and shell waste can be a fuel or a cost; record where it goes.

## What to include

- Tender coconuts bought and their transport.
- Processing electricity and any boiler fuel.
- Packaging by type and weight.
- Cold storage and distribution.

## Shells and husk

If sold as fuel or coir, they leave your boundary. If dumped, include waste handling.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
