# We moved goods by rail to cut emissions. How do we prove it to our buyer?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/prove-rail-freight-to-buyer-carbon

Keep the railway receipts or freight forwarder documents that show rail legs, tonnes and distance, plus the road legs at each end. Calculate each leg with its own factor. Buyers accept rail savings when documents show the mode, not just a claim in an email.

## Documents

- Railway receipt or container train bill.
- Forwarder invoice showing legs and modes.
- Truck invoices for first and last mile.

## Calculation

Tonne-km per leg times the mode's factor, following ISO 14083 and the GLEC Framework.

## Report both

Show the rail route figure and what road-only would have been, labelled as a comparison.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
