# What carbon data do Ruhr steelmakers ask ore and ferroalloy suppliers for?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/ruhr-steel-buyer-asks-ore-and-alloy-suppliers-data

Mostly product footprints per tonne for their own Scope 3 and low carbon steel claims, and CBAM embedded emissions for covered goods such as pellets and ferroalloys. Iron ore fines are not a CBAM good, but buyers still want mining, processing and shipping emissions.

## Covered goods

- Agglomerated ore (pellets, sinter) and ferroalloys: CBAM embedded emissions per tonne.
- Their own Scope 1 and 2 behind that figure.

## Not covered, still asked

- Iron ore fines and lump: mining diesel, beneficiation electricity, rail and sea freight.
- Coking coal: mining methane and transport.

## Why they ask

Ruhr mills switching to DRI and arc furnaces sell low carbon steel on a cradle to gate figure, so every input's footprint now shows up in their price.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads your electricity bills and fuel invoices into Scope 1 and 2 records with the factor and source on each line, the site data a buyer questionnaire starts from. It does not produce verified product footprints or fill a buyer's portal for you.
