# What is the carbon footprint of a wood carving unit in Saharanpur?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/saharanpur-wood-carving-unit-emissions

A carving unit's own emissions are mostly electricity for saws, lathes, sanders and spray guns, at 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh. Timber, polish and lacquer are bought-in Scope 3. Carbon stored in the wood is reported separately, not subtracted from your total.

## Typical split

- Scope 2: grid power for machines and lights.
- Scope 1: diesel genset during cuts, if any.
- Scope 3: timber, varnish, packaging and freight.

## For EU buyers

Wooden goods may also need deforestation-free proof under EUDR. That is a separate check from the carbon figure.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads the energy invoices behind the making stage into a fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record, and keeps material invoices on the Scope 3 trail. Material factors come from your supplier or a named database and are labelled with their source, so the product figure can be traced line by line.
