# What should our sales team say when a buyer asks about our carbon footprint?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/sales-team-answering-carbon-questions

Give them three approved lines: our latest Scope 1 and 2 figure with the year, how it was calculated, and the next step such as Scope 3 or a target. Anything beyond that goes to the person who owns the data. Sales should never promise a figure, label or certificate you do not have.

## Approved lines

- Our 2025-26 Scope 1 and 2 emissions were X t CO2e, from our fuel invoices and electricity bills.
- We follow the GHG Protocol.
- We are adding Scope 3 this year; the data owner can share details.

## Do not say

- We are carbon neutral, unless it is true and documented.
- We are ISO 14064 certified.
- Our footprint is lower than competitors, without a like-for-like basis.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps each figure behind a claim traceable to the invoices and bills it came from, so a reader can check the number rather than take the wording on trust.
