# Our São Bernardo truck parts plant buys renewable certificates. How do we show Scope 2?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/sao-bernardo-truck-parts-supplier-scope-2

Report two Scope 2 figures: location-based at the Brazilian grid factor, and market-based using the certificates you bought for the same period and volume. Keep the certificate retirement records. Buyers usually ask for both.

## Location-based

Units from bills times the official grid factor for the year.

## Market-based

- Certificates matched to the units and the period.
- Retirement in your name, on the registry.
- Any units not covered at a residual factor where one is published.

## Showing it

Put both figures side by side and say which one any target is set against.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
