# How does a Satna cement plant count diesel and blasting at its limestone mine?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/satna-limestone-mine-diesel-scope-1

If the plant owns or runs the mine, diesel for drills, shovels and dumpers is Scope 1 at about 2.68 kg CO2 per litre. Explosives also release CO2 when they detonate, a small amount per tonne of rock. Report the mine with the plant, but as its own line.

## Records

- Diesel issued to mine equipment, from fuel logs or invoices.
- Explosives used, in kg, by type.
- Limestone mined and sent to the crusher, in tonnes.

## Contractors

If a contractor runs the mine and buys its own diesel, it is Scope 3 for you, unless you supply the fuel. Check the contract.

## Size of it

Mining is small next to calcination and kiln fuel, but auditors check that it is there.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and freight invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so each figure you send a buyer traces back to the documents behind it.
