# What hourly-matched clean power share earns SBTi V2 recognition?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/sbti-v2-hourly-matching-recognition-thresholds

Under SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard V2.0, C34.1, a company earns optional Scope 2 Hourly Matching recognition on the SBTi Dashboard at 50% hourly matching until 2030, 75% until 2035 and 90% from 2035, met in every reporting year and with the percentage assured.

## What is required and what is optional

- C32: Category A companies must calculate and report the share of Scope 2 electricity matched hour by hour, in every activity pool using 10 GWh or more a year.
- C33: every company says whether it intends to join the recognition programme, and explains if not.
- C34: recognition is optional and needs the thresholds met in each year of the target period.
- Anyone seeking recognition, Category B included, must have the hourly percentage assured.

## Which year's threshold applies

Each reporting year is placed in the calendar year holding most of its months. FY 2028-29 (April 2028 to March 2029) is read as 2028. The text does not say whether 2030 itself sits under the 50% or the 75% threshold; plan for 75% from FY 2030-31 until SBTi clarifies.

## What it takes in India

- Generation data by hour or 15 minutes from your solar or wind plant.
- Your own consumption at the same interval, from a smart or open access meter. Monthly bills cannot show it.
- One interval within each activity pool; hourly and annual cannot be mixed (C32.3).
- Some night supply: wind, storage or another source. Solar alone rarely passes 50% for a round-the-clock plant.

## Example: a three-shift plant

- Consumption: 12 GWh a year in one activity pool, above the 10 GWh line
- Solar contract delivers 7 GWh a year: 7 / 12 = 58% on an annual basis
- Matched hour by hour, only 4.8 GWh lines up with use: 4.8 / 12 = 40%
- Below the 50% threshold: reported, but not recognised

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills for monthly units and billing periods. Hourly matching needs interval meter and generation data, which is set up with the Senseible team where meter feeds exist. It does not set, validate or assure SBTi targets.
