# How does a yarn texturising unit in Silvassa work out carbon per kg?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/silvassa-yarn-texturising-unit-electricity-co2

Texturising runs on electricity for heaters, godets and winders. Take kWh from the bill, multiply by 0.710 kg CO2, and divide by kg of textured yarn. For a buyer's full figure, add the partially oriented yarn you buy, from the supplier or a database factor, labelled as such.

## Inputs

- Electricity bill units.
- DG diesel during outages.
- Kg of yarn produced and POY consumed.

## Biggest lever

POY usually carries far more than the texturising step. Ask the POY maker for its figure.

## Worked example

- Electricity: 180,000 kWh x 0.710 kg = 127.8 t CO2
- Yarn produced: 400,000 kg
- About 0.32 kg CO2 per kg, before POY

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
