# Should we report emissions for each site or only for the whole company?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/site-level-or-company-level-carbon-report

Build it by site, report the company total. Each site has its own bills, so a site-by-site record is easier to check and shows where to act. Buyers often want the figure for the site that makes their product; lenders and annual reports usually want the company total.

## Why build by site

- Each bill belongs to one site, so errors are easy to trace.
- A buyer can get the figure for the plant that supplies them.
- Site trends show where energy is going.

## Keep the boundary clear

List every site in the company total and say which control approach you used, so nothing is missed or counted twice.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills (CEA grid factor 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh, CO2 Baseline Database version 21.0) and diesel, LPG and gas invoices (IPCC 2006 defaults) into a dated, fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record for each site, and labels estimates as estimates.
