# What CBAM figure does an EU buyer need for hot rolled coil from Smederevo?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/smederevo-steel-hot-rolled-coil-cbam

Smederevo is a blast furnace works, so its coil carries coke, sinter and furnace emissions. Ask for a verified figure per tonne of coil for the period. Serbia has no carbon price to deduct, so the full CBAM charge applies to that figure.

## What goes in

- Coke and sinter, made on site or bought.
- Blast furnace and converter.
- Hot strip mill fuel.
- Bought slabs or pig iron as precursors.

## Electricity

Reported, not charged, for steel. Serbia's grid is lignite heavy, which buyers doing Scope 3 will notice.

## Tinplate and plate

Each product needs its own figure. Downstream steps add their own fuel and power.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps each site's fuel, power and production records together, so the embedded emissions you send an EU importer trace back to dated documents.
