# How do I count emissions when old solar panels are recycled in India?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/solar-panel-recycling-emissions-india

For the plant owner, panels sent for disposal are Scope 3 Category 5, waste, in the year removed. Use the recycler's weight slip and a factor for the treatment route. India's E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 bring solar PV modules under producer responsibility, so keep the recycler's certificate.

## What to keep

- Number and weight of panels removed.
- The authorised recycler's receipt or certificate.
- The date, for the right reporting year.

## Your new panels

Replacement panels are capital goods, Category 2, in the year you buy them.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads quantities, dates and units from your bills and invoices and shows the factor and source used on every line.
