# What grid emission factor should a supplier in Taiwan use?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/taiwan-grid-emission-factor-for-suppliers

Taiwan grid power comes mostly from gas and coal, with growing solar and wind, so the location based factor sits around half a kilogram of CO2 per kWh. Use the figure the energy authority publishes for the reporting year, state source and year, and report RECs or PPAs under the market based method.

## Location based

The official figure is published yearly and has been easing as renewables grow. Use the year that matches the bills.

## Market based

Taiwan RECs or a corporate PPA retired for your consumption set this figure, if they meet the Scope 2 quality criteria.

## What to send

- Monthly kWh from bills.
- Both totals, with factor, source and year.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills into dated, fingerprinted records and keeps location based and market based figures side by side, each with the factor and year used.
