# What CBAM figure should an EU buyer ask for on aluminium from Tema?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/tema-aluminium-smelter-cbam-figure

Direct emissions only: anode carbon consumed, perfluorocarbons from anode effects, and fuel for casting. A smelter running only part of its potlines should report per tonne actually produced in the period, because fixed loads spread over fewer tonnes.

## Direct emissions

- Anode consumption per tonne.
- Perfluorocarbons from anode effects.
- Fuel for holding furnaces and casting.

## Part load

Anode effects and heat losses per tonne can be higher when a smelter restarts or runs few potlines. Report the period and lines operating.

## Electricity

Reported, not charged. Power from hydro and gas gives a lower indirect figure than coal based smelters, which buyers may value.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps each site's fuel, power and production records together, so the embedded emissions you send an EU importer trace back to dated documents.
