# Do truck chassis and frame parts exported to the EU need CBAM data?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/truck-chassis-frame-parts-cbam-check

Usually not, if they are declared as parts of motor vehicles under heading 8708, which is outside CBAM. Check each line: fasteners under 7318, structures under 7308 and other steel articles under 7326 are covered, so a mixed shipment may still need embedded emissions for some lines.

## How to check

1. Get the CN code your importer uses for each line.
2. Compare with Annex I of the CBAM Regulation.
3. Prepare embedded emissions only for covered lines.

## What a buyer still wants

Truck makers ask for product footprints for their own Scope 3 and targets even when CBAM does not apply. Keep a per part figure ready.

## Keep the evidence

Store the classification the importer used. If customs reclassifies a part into a covered heading, you will need data quickly.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads your invoices into dated, fingerprinted records and its CBAM check flags which goods fall under the regulation. Senseible does not classify goods for customs or file CBAM declarations.
