# Can a Turkish supplier use YEK-G certificates to show renewable electricity to European buyers?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/turkish-supplier-yek-g-certificates-scope-2

Yes, in market based Scope 2, if the certificates are retired in your name for the year's consumption and meet the GHG Protocol Scope 2 Quality Criteria. YEK-G is Turkey's own guarantee of origin system. Report the location based figure with the grid factor beside it.

## What to keep

- The retirement statement in your company name, with generation period and plant.
- Your metered consumption for the same period.
- Proof the same certificates were not sold or claimed elsewhere.

## What buyers check

That the certificates are from the Turkish market where you consume, match the year, and cover the amount claimed. Many car makers also accept a direct supply contract from a renewable plant.

## Report both

Give location based and market based figures, clearly labelled, so the buyer can use the one its own reporting requires.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads each site's monthly electricity bills into a dated, fingerprinted Scope 2 record. Grid factors outside India are entered from the official source for the country and year, and are labelled with that source.
