# What are the UK CBAM default values for H sections and hollow sections?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/uk-cbam-h-sections-hollow-sections

A 152 mm and a 203 mm column take different UK CBAM defaults. Hot-rolled H sections of non-alloy steel 80 to 180 mm high (7216 33 10) carry 2.990 tCO2e per tonne, and 2.665 above 180 mm (7216 33 90). Welded square or rectangular hollow sections are 5.727 in stainless (7306 61 10) and 2.700 or 2.663 in carbon steel.

## Defaults

- 7216 33 10: H sections, simply hot-rolled, 80 mm to 180 mm high: 2.990 tCO2e per tonne.
- 7216 33 90: H sections above 180 mm high: 2.665.
- 7306 61 10: welded square or rectangular hollow sections, stainless: 5.727.
- 7306 61 92: the same in other steel, wall 2 mm or less: 2.700.
- 7306 61 99: the same, wall above 2 mm: 2.663.

## Height splits the beam code

A 152 mm column and a 203 mm column from the same mill take different defaults. List each section height on the invoice so the importer can declare the right code per line.

## Stainless more than doubles it

Stainless hollow sections carry 5.727 against 2.663 for a carbon steel section with a wall over 2 mm. A fabricator mixing both in one shipment should declare them on separate lines.

## Universal columns for a UK stockholder

- 300 t of 152 mm H sections, 7216 33 10: 300 x 2.990 = 897.000 tCO2e.
- 200 t of 203 mm H sections, 7216 33 90: 200 x 2.665 = 533.000 tCO2e.
- 10 t of 50 x 50 mm stainless box section, 7306 61 10: 10 x 5.727 = 57.270 tCO2e.
- Total: 1,487.270 tCO2e on defaults.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads billet, bloom and coil invoices with reheating fuel bills and dispatch tonnes by section, so your figure can be set against 2.990 or 2.665. We build the figure from your records and check every figure in-house; for the UK it must then be verified by a verifier accredited for UK CBAM. Have your own verifier? Send it to them.
