# What CBAM figure does an EU mill need for iron ore pellets from Ukraine?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/ukraine-iron-ore-pellets-cbam-figure

Pellets are a CBAM good, so the importer needs embedded emissions per tonne: fuel for the induration furnace, carbon in any additives, and electricity for grinding, reported separately. Fines and lump ore are not covered, only agglomerated ore.

## Direct emissions

- Gas, coal or oil burnt in the induration furnace.
- Carbon in bentonite, limestone or dolomite additives.
- Fuel for drying, if separate.

## Electricity

Grinding and pelletising use a lot of power. Report kWh per tonne and the factor; for iron and steel goods it is reported, not charged.

## Mine and concentrator

Mining and concentrating ore are outside the CBAM pellet figure. Steel buyers may still ask for them for a full footprint.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps each site's fuel, power and production records together, so the embedded emissions you send an EU importer trace back to dated documents.
