# What carbon data does an EU brand want from a cotton spinner in Uzbekistan?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/uzbekistan-cotton-yarn-spinner-buyer-data

Electricity per kg of yarn, the grid factor and year, any gas for humidification or heating, and the cotton's origin. Spinning is mostly electricity, so the kWh figure from bills carries most of the result. Brands then add farming and ginning upstream.

## Per kg of yarn

1. Total kWh for the month from bills.
2. Divide by kg of yarn produced.
3. Multiply by the grid factor.
4. Add gas or diesel, if any, the same way.

## Upstream

Farming and ginning sit before you. Pass on the cotton lot and region so the brand can add them.

## Allocation

If you also make waste yarn or comber noil for sale, say how emissions were split.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible turns supplier invoices into a Scope 3 record with the supplier, quantity and factor behind every figure, so you can see which supplier data is still missing.
