# Which scope covers the common effluent plant a Vapi chemical unit pays for?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/vapi-chemical-unit-cetp-fee-which-scope

Effluent you send to the common treatment plant is waste generated in operations, Scope 3 category 5. The plant's own energy and emissions are its Scope 1 and 2, not yours. Your own pre-treatment plant's power stays in your Scope 2.

## What to record

Volume sent each month, from the CETP bill.

Any factor the CETP provides per kilolitre, with its basis.

## If no factor is available

Report the volume and mark the line as a gap. A rupee fee alone is not a reliable activity measure.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads the energy invoices behind the making stage into a fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record, and keeps material invoices on the Scope 3 trail. Material factors come from your supplier or a named database and are labelled with their source, so the product figure can be traced line by line.
