# Which scope covers ETP sludge a Vapi dye unit sends to a cement kiln?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/vapi-dye-unit-sludge-to-cement-kiln-scope-3

Waste you send off site, including sludge sent for co-processing in a cement kiln, is Scope 3 category 5. The kiln's combustion emissions are the cement plant's Scope 1, not yours. Record tonnes sent and the receiver for each load.

## What to record

Tonnes of sludge per load, from the manifest.

The receiving facility and the treatment route.

## Transport

The trucking to the kiln is also Scope 3 if you pay for it.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads the energy invoices behind the making stage into a fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record, and keeps material invoices on the Scope 3 trail. Material factors come from your supplier or a named database and are labelled with their source, so the product figure can be traced line by line.
