# Our verifier asked for a data flow diagram. What should it show?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/verifier-asks-for-data-flow-diagram

A simple picture of how each emission figure is produced: where the data starts (meter, invoice, register), who records it, where it is stored, how it is calculated and who checks it. One page is enough for a small company. It helps the verifier choose what to test.

## One line per source

- Source: grid power, diesel, coal, refrigerant.
- Starting document: bill, invoice, issue register.
- Who enters it and where.
- How it is converted to CO2, and with which factor.
- Who reviews it before reporting.

## Controls to mark

Mark the points where someone checks the data, such as matching bills to payments. Verifiers test these.

## Keep it current

Update it when a person, system or supplier changes.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps each figure tied to its invoice, factor and method version, so a verifier can trace any number back to the document it came from.
