# How does a Verra project get the CCP label on its credits?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/verra-ccp-label-how-applied

Verra applies CCP labels automatically at issuance to VCUs from projects using an ICVCM-approved methodology, when it has enough information to confirm eligibility. Where ICVCM set extra conditions, the VVB and Verra check them at verification review, and the project attaches a completed CCP Label Eligibility Verification Report Checklist to its verification report.

## Two routes to the label

- No extra conditions: Verra's list shows none for VM0044 v1.2 (biochar), VM0045 v1.2 (improved forest management) and VM0047 v1.0 to 1.1 (afforestation, reforestation and revegetation). Labels follow at issuance.
- Extra conditions: the VVB checks them at verification, you attach the checklist, and Verra checks again at review.

## Methodologies with extra conditions on Verra's list

- ACM0001 v15.0 to v19.0 and AMS-III.G v9.0 to v10.0, landfill gas: gas-to-electricity only up to 10 MWe.
- ACM0008 v6.0 to v8.0, coal mine methane: ventilation air and coal mine methane only, additionality by VT0009.
- AM0023 v4.0, leak detection and repair: first crediting period only.
- VM0042 v2.2, agricultural land management: soil organic carbon measured by listed methods such as dry combustion.
- VM0050 v1.0, cookstoves: a customised checklist and rules on fNRB, fuel use and charcoal.
- VM0051 v1.1, rice: five-year crediting period renewable twice, and a decisive benchmark result if VT0008 benchmark analysis is used.
- VMR0016 and VMR0017: additionality and baseline tools VT0009 and VT0008.

## Before your next verification

1. Confirm your methodology and version are on Verra's CCP list.
2. Read the ICVCM CCP Label Guidance on Verra's VCS Rules and Requirements page.
3. If conditions apply, download the checklist template, or the customised one for your methodology, and agree with your VVB how each item will be evidenced.
4. After issuance, check the label on your VCUs in the Verra Registry.

## One limit buyers should know

Verra states that labelling is done on a reasonable efforts basis and that, beyond the information supplied by proponents and VVBs, it does not warrant the labels are accurate. Buyers still do their own checks.

## What Senseible does here

For biochar projects under Verra VM0044 v1.2, Senseible's verifier evidence pack holds the kiln sensor temperature logs, chain of custody and lab results the VVB checks. The VVB verifies, and Verra applies any label at issuance.
