# Do customer and visitor trips to our factory count in our carbon footprint?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/visitors-and-guests-in-carbon-footprint

Generally no. A customer's travel to your site is in their inventory, as their business travel. The electricity and fuel used while they are on site are already in your Scope 1 and 2. If you pay for a visitor's travel or hotel, count it in Scope 3 Category 6.

## Count it when

- You book and pay for the visitor's flights, trains or hotel.
- You send a company car to collect them: already in your Scope 1 fuel.

## Leave it out when

- The visitor's own company pays and arranges travel.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads supplier invoices into dated records with the quantity, unit and factor on each line, and marks lines without a usable quantity as needing data instead of guessing.
