# How does a steel galvanising unit near Wardha work out its CBAM figure?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/wardha-steel-galvanising-unit-cbam-figure

Galvanised coil or sheet is a CBAM steel good. Its figure is the embedded emissions of the coil you bought, plus your own direct emissions from furnace and annealing fuel. Zinc is not a precursor. Electricity is not charged for steel goods, but keep it on record.

## Inputs

- Coil supplier's embedded emissions per tonne.
- Fuel for annealing and zinc pot heating.
- Tonnes of coil in and product out, for yield.

## Yield matters

Scrap and trim losses mean more coil per tonne of product, which raises the figure.

## Ask the coil supplier

Without their figure, your importer falls back on default values for the precursor.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, power and production records into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions your EU importer asks for.
