# What should a GHG verification statement contain?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/what-a-ghg-verification-statement-contains

Who verified what, against which standard, at what level of assurance, and their conclusion. A usable statement names the organisation and period, the emissions verified by scope, the criteria such as ISO 14064-1 or the GHG Protocol, materiality, the verifier's independence, and any qualifications or exclusions.

## Check for

- Organisation, sites and reporting period.
- Scope 1, Scope 2 and any Scope 3 totals verified.
- Standard and criteria used.
- Limited or reasonable assurance.
- Materiality threshold.
- Qualified or unqualified conclusion, with reasons.

## Red flags

- No named verifier or accreditation.
- A conclusion with no stated level of assurance.
- Totals that differ from the report it refers to.

## Sharing it

Send buyers the statement with the report it covers, so they can match the numbers.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps every figure linked to its source invoice or bill with a fingerprint, so a verifier can trace a total back to the documents it came from.
