# We sell products made for us under our brand by another factory. Who reports their emissions?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/white-label-products-who-reports-emissions

Both, in different places. The maker reports its fuel and electricity in its own Scope 1 and 2. You, as the brand owner, report the products you buy in Scope 3 Category 1, and their use and disposal in Categories 11 and 12 where relevant. Ask the maker for its per-unit footprint.

## What to ask the maker

- Emissions per unit or per kg for your products, with the year.
- Which scopes and stages are included.
- The share of its output that your orders represent.

## If the maker cannot answer

Use your purchase quantities with an industry average factor, label it as secondary data, and ask again next year.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible reads supplier invoices into dated records with the quantity, unit and factor on each line, and marks lines without a usable quantity as needing data instead of guessing.
