# Our buyer wants our carbon figures verified. Who should pay for it?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/who-pays-for-supplier-carbon-verification

There is no rule; it is a commercial question. Suppliers usually pay to verify their own inventory because they can reuse the statement with every buyer. If one buyer insists on its own verifier or format, it is fair to ask that buyer to share the cost, and to write it into the contract.

## Points to raise

- Will the buyer accept a statement any accredited verifier issues?
- Is limited assurance enough?
- How often: every year or once?
- Can other buyers rely on the same statement?

## Keep the cost down

Clean records and a method note cut verifier days. Ask several buyers to accept one verified dataset.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible fingerprints every invoice and bill it reads, so the same document is never counted twice, and each emission line links back to the page, quantity and factor it came from.
