# How does a cable maker count Zambian copper cathode in Scope 3?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/answers/zambia-copper-cathode-buyer-scope-3

Multiply tonnes bought by a per tonne footprint for that producer, cradle to gate. Copper is not a CBAM good, so this is Scope 3 only. Ask whether the figure covers mining, smelting and refining, and which year's grid power it uses.

## What to ask

- CO2 per tonne of cathode and the boundary.
- Share from diesel, grid power and smelting fuel.
- Whether sulphuric acid by product got a share.

## Records

Purchase invoices with tonnes and the producer on each lot, so the right figure attaches to each delivery.

## Without data

Use a database average and say so. Producer data usually replaces it within a reporting cycle once you ask.

## What Senseible does here

Senseible turns supplier invoices into a Scope 3 record with the supplier, quantity and factor behind every figure, so you can see which supplier data is still missing.
