# How to Get Green Finance for a Textile Exporter in Bursa or Denizli

Turkey's textile map has two old centres. Bursa built its name on weaving, from silk to technical fabrics. Denizli made towels and home textiles that fill European bathrooms. Both sell to Europe by truck in days, which is the advantage Asian suppliers cannot match.

That closeness also means European rules arrive in Bursa and Denizli first. The question for an exporter is how to pay for the changes European buyers now expect.

## How much depends on Europe

The Turkish Exporters Assembly says the EU takes 42 percent of Turkey's total exports, and about 60 percent of its ready-to-wear and clothing exports, close to 70 percent with the UK. For a Denizli towel maker or a Bursa weaver, Europe is not one market among many.

## What Europe is asking for

Textiles are not covered by the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. The pressure comes through buyers and product rules. FashionUnited reported in January 2026 that supplier requirements are rising under the EU Green Deal and related rules: the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, which will set product requirements for textiles; the Green Claims Directive; and the Product Environmental Footprint method. In practice brands ask suppliers for energy, water and chemical data, and for the carbon footprint of what they buy.

## The finance on offer

- **The Türkiye Green Export Project.** GMK Center reported that Turk Eximbank raised a €1 billion, 10-year loan from Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered, BNP Paribas and ING, with a €600 million first-loss guarantee from the World Bank's IBRD. Proceeds go to exporters for environmentally friendly products, renewable energy, energy efficiency and working capital.
- **Help with the groundwork.** Textilegence reported a Ministry of Trade official saying the state would cover half of an exporter's sustainability consultancy, up to 10 million lira, alongside Eximbank loans and guarantees from İhracatı Geliştirme A.Ş. The article is undated, so confirm current terms with the ministry.
- **Commercial banks** with green and sustainability-linked loans for solar, heat recovery from dyeing and finishing, and water recycling.

## What to have ready

1. **Monthly energy by source:** electricity, natural gas, steam, with units.
2. **Water in and out** for dyeing and finishing.
3. **Output by month** in kilograms or metres, so energy and water per unit can be stated.
4. **The project:** solar, heat recovery, efficient stenters or water reuse, with expected savings and metering.

The same records answer a European brand's questionnaire and a lender's file. Confirm current eligibility and terms with the lender before you apply.
