# EUDR applies from 30 December 2026. Is your product caught?

Canonical: https://senseible.earth/eudr

Your EU buyer files the declaration. You are asked for the proof behind it. The EU amended the rules in December 2024 and December 2025. These are the current dates.

## Is your product covered, and from when

- Coffee: Covered. Coffee is a covered commodity, so your buyer needs plot locations and legality proof for every lot. Soluble coffee was added in 2026. It applies from 30 December 2027.
- Rubber and tyres: Covered, confirm your code. Rubber is a covered commodity and the EU names tyres among the covered products. The EU changed its product list in 2026, so confirm the 8-digit code on your invoice.
- Leather and cattle hides: Check your code. Cattle are a covered commodity. The EU changed its product list in 2026, so confirm whether your hide or leather code is still on it.
- Wood, furniture and handicrafts: Covered, confirm your code. Wood is a covered commodity and the EU names furniture. For handicrafts and other wooden articles, confirm the 8-digit code on your invoice.
- Soy: Covered. Soy is a covered commodity, so your buyer needs plot locations and legality proof for every lot.
- Cocoa: Covered. Cocoa is a covered commodity, so your buyer needs plot locations and legality proof for every lot.
- Palm oil: Covered. Palm oil is a covered commodity, so your buyer needs plot locations and legality proof for every lot. Certain palm oil derivatives were added in 2026. They apply from 30 December 2027.
- Packaging: Check your code. Wood and paper packaging depends on its 8-digit code and the current EU product list. Check the code on your invoice.

- Large or medium buyer: 30 December 2026.
- Micro or small buyer: 30 June 2027. If your buyer already handled timber under the old EU Timber Regulation, their date is 30 December 2026. Ask them which applies.

## What your EU buyer will ask for

1. Where it grew. The location of every plot where the crop or wood was produced, and the date or time range of production. For cattle, the location of every establishment where the animals were kept.
2. What and how much. A product description with its trade name, the HS code, the net weight in kilograms and the country of production. For wood, the common and scientific name of the species.
3. Who handled it. The name, postal address and email address of whoever supplied the goods and of whoever received them.
4. Nothing cleared after 2020. Evidence that the land was not deforested after 31 December 2020. For wood, that the harvest did not degrade the forest.
5. Legal where it grew. Evidence that the goods were produced under the laws of the country of production.
6. Then the buyer files it. The buyer submits a due diligence statement in the EU Information System before the goods enter the EU market. The reference number goes on the customs declaration. The documents are kept for five years.

## India is low risk. Here is what that changes.

- India is in the low risk category.
- A buyer sourcing only from low risk countries can use simplified due diligence. Authorities also run fewer checks on these goods.
- The shortcut holds only if your goods are never mixed with goods from other origins. Your buyer has to be certain of that.

## Where Senseible fits

Senseible reads the HS code on each purchase invoice and keeps every invoice dated, so you can show your buyer what came in, from whom and when. Plot coordinates come from your growers and your buyer files the statement. We do not file statements or certify that goods are deforestation free.

## Straight answers

### Do I have to file anything in the EU myself?

Not unless you place the goods on the EU market yourself. The EU says the regulation puts no direct duties on producers outside the EU unless they do that. Your buyer can still ask you for plot locations and legality records.

### Is India a low, standard or high risk country?

Low risk, in the EU country list adopted in 2025. Only Belarus, North Korea, Myanmar and Russia are high risk.

### Does low risk mean my buyer needs less from me?

No. Your buyer can skip the risk assessment and risk reduction steps, but still has to collect plot locations, production dates and proof that the goods are deforestation free and legal. Most of that starts with you.

### What is the cut-off date?

Land must not have been deforested after 31 December 2020. Wood must not come from harvests that degraded the forest.

### What is a due diligence statement?

The filing your buyer makes in the EU Information System before the goods enter the EU market. It returns a reference number that goes on the customs declaration.

### Which dates apply?

From 30 December 2026 for large and medium buyers and from 30 June 2027 for most micro and small ones. Products the EU added in 2026 apply from 30 December 2027.
