What does Agra's footwear component cluster use in energy, and which product uses most?

Plastic soles: 5,429 of the 8,624 toe that Agra's 205 or so component units used in 2014-15, by TERI's count, about 63%. The cluster drew 59 million kWh of power, 2,880 kL of diesel and 1.2 million scm of gas, roughly 50,000 t CO2 a year on today's factors, mostly from electricity.

Who makes what

Energy by product

Per kg, per pair

Specific consumption ran from 0.91 to 2.67 kWh per kg. Lasts were highest at 2.67 kWh per kg and weigh 2 to 2.2 kg a pair, so a pair of lasts carries far more energy than a pair of soles at about 0.4 kg. When a brand asks for a figure per pair, weigh what you ship: kg per pair times kWh per kg is the honest way to split a month's bill across mixed products.

Where the power goes and what cuts it

Worked example: cluster CO2 and one pair of soles

The 1.4 kWh per kg is an assumption inside TERI's 0.91 to 2.67 range; use your own bills and kg shipped. Material (PVC, TPR, rubber) is a separate Scope 3 line.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads your electricity bills and diesel or gas invoices into monthly records, and works out kWh per kg or per pair from the production you enter, so you can answer a brand's question with your own bills.
