How much electricity per quintal of seed do Alwar mustard oil mills use?

10 to 15 kWh per quintal of mustard seed, BEE's study found: about 186 lakh kWh for 12.4 lakh quintals across roughly 50 mills in Alwar and Sawai Madhopur. At 15 kWh that is about 10 kg CO2 per quintal crushed, or roughly 0.29 kg per kg of kolhu and expeller oil.

Where the kWh go

What cuts it

Records a buyer will ask for

  1. Monthly kWh from the bill, and DG diesel litres.
  2. Quintals of seed crushed, and oil and cake out by weight.
  3. Wood or husk for the boiler, kept as biogenic.
  4. How you split the energy between oil and cake: by weight or by value, stated.

Per quintal and per kg of oil (estimate)

Power, seed and extraction shares from BEE's energy conservation manual for the Alwar oil mill cluster. Mill energy only; growing the mustard is a separate, larger figure.

What Senseible does here

The calculators turn kWh per quintal into CO2 per kg of oil; Senseible can read your electricity bills and diesel slips into monthly records to back the figure.
