How does a banquet hall work out the carbon footprint of a wedding?
Read the electricity and generator diesel for the event, the LPG used in the kitchen and the food bought, then divide by guests. Catering and generators usually lead. Guest travel can be estimated separately if the couple asks for it.
From your own records
- Meter reading before and after the event.
- Genset diesel for the day.
- LPG cylinders used in the kitchen.
Per guest
Divide by confirmed headcount. Food waste weighed after the event adds a useful number for reducing next time.
One evening
- Diesel 120 L x 2.68 = 322 kg; LPG 6 x 19 kg x 2.98 = 340 kg
- Grid 900 kWh x 0.710 = 639 kg; total 1,301 kg for 500 guests = 2.6 kg each
