How do I calculate energy intensity per rupee of turnover for BRSR?

Divide total energy consumed in gigajoules by revenue from operations in rupees. Convert each fuel and electricity to GJ first: 1 kWh is 0.0036 GJ, a litre of diesel about 0.0359 GJ. For the PPP figure, divide revenue by India's PPP conversion rate before dividing.

Where it sits in BRSR

Principle 6, Essential Indicator 1 asks for total energy consumed, split into renewable and non-renewable, and energy intensity per rupee of turnover. BRSR Core adds the same intensity adjusted for purchasing power parity. Energy is reported in joules or multiples, usually GJ.

Avoiding double counting

The PPP version

Divide revenue from operations by the PPP conversion factor for India, in rupees per international dollar, for the reporting year, then divide energy by the result. Name the source and year of the factor.

Worked example: one year

Use the PPP factor for your reporting year; 20.5 is illustrative.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads kWh, litres and kg from electricity bills and fuel invoices, which give the activity totals for the GJ conversion above, and prepares BRSR drafts from the uploaded data. Reports are self-declared drafts.
