How do we answer the BRSR question on environmental impact assessments?

Principle 6, essential indicator 12 of SEBI's updated BRSR format asks for environmental impact assessments of projects done under applicable laws in the current financial year. For each: project name and details, EIA notification number, date, whether an independent external agency did it, whether results are public, and a web link.

The six columns

  1. Name and brief details of the project.
  2. EIA notification number.
  3. Date.
  4. Whether conducted by an independent external agency (Yes or No).
  5. Whether results were communicated in the public domain (Yes or No).
  6. Relevant web link.

Which projects go in

Only projects where an EIA was required under applicable law and carried out in the reporting year. A new plant or a capacity expansion that needed environmental clearance is the usual case. A voluntary study can be described elsewhere, but it does not belong in this table.

If there were none

Say so in one line, for example: no project required an environmental impact assessment under applicable laws in FY 2025-26. A blank table reads as an unanswered question.

Keep it consistent with 11 and 13

Indicator 11 asks about sites in or around ecologically sensitive areas and indicator 13 about compliance with environmental laws. A project listed here near a sensitive area should appear in 11 too, and any clearance condition breach belongs in 13.

What Senseible does here

Senseible does not prepare EIAs or hold clearance records. It reads electricity bills and fuel invoices into the energy and emissions figures for the rest of Principle 6, as self-declared drafts.
