What does BRSR ask about our markets and export share of turnover?
Question 19 asks for three things: how many Indian states and how many countries you sell into, exports as a percentage of total turnover, and a short note on your types of customers. It sits in Section A, under Operations.
The three parts of question 19
- Number of locations: national (number of states) and international (number of countries).
- Contribution of exports as a percentage of the total turnover of the entity.
- A brief on types of customers.
Which number goes where
- Count states and countries where you sell, not only where you have plants. Plants and offices are question 18.
- The export percentage uses total turnover of the entity as the base, not domestic sales.
- The customer note is a line or two: for example distributors, manufacturers, retail chains, government.
Keep it matched to the rest of the report
Question 17 lists products by share of turnover and question 16 lists main activities. A reader will compare them with this answer, so use the same financial year and the same turnover figure.
Example (made-up numbers)
- Total turnover for the year: Rs 60 crore. Export sales: Rs 18 crore.
- Exports as a share of turnover: 18 / 60 x 100 = 30%.
- Sold into 4 Indian states and 6 countries, so enter 4 national and 6 international.
Example only. Use your own sales ledger for the financial year.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads sales and freight invoices into dated records, so the destinations and quantities behind a market list stay traceable.
