Can a GHG verification be done remotely, without a site visit?
Partly. Document review and interviews can be remote, and many verifiers allow remote work for small sites with simple sources. Where emissions are material or meters need checking, expect a site visit, or a live video walk-through if the verifier's procedures accept it. The verifier decides.
Usually remote
- Reviewing invoices, bills and calculation workings.
- Interviews with the people who prepared the data.
Usually needs presence
- Checking meters, fuel tanks and weighbridges.
- Sites with process emissions or many sources.
- First verifications, where the verifier has never seen the site.
Ask up front
Ask whether a remote visit is acceptable for your scope before you sign the engagement, so cost and timing are clear.
What Senseible does here
Senseible keeps each figure tied to its invoice, factor and method version, so a verifier can trace any number back to the document it came from.
