Senseible

How do I calculate the emissions of a car paint booth per vehicle painted?

Add the burner fuel for the bake cycle, LPG at 2.98 kg CO2 per kilogram or diesel at 2.68 per litre, and the fan and lighting electricity at 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh. Divide by paint jobs, and count panels as well if job sizes vary.

What uses energy

Per job or per panel

A full respray uses more booth time than a single panel. Divide by booth hours or panels as well as jobs, so the figure reflects the work.

Paint solvents

Solvent vapour is a VOC and an air quality issue, not CO2 from the booth. Keep it out of the energy figure and track it separately for air quality compliance.

Worked example: one month (illustrative inputs)

Fuel and power are illustrative; use LPG invoices, a booth sub-meter and the job register.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills (CEA grid factor 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh, CO2 Baseline Database version 21.0) and diesel, LPG and gas invoices (IPCC 2006 defaults) into a dated, fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record for each site. Intensity per unit uses the activity count you enter, and estimates are labelled as estimates.
