Senseible

Can a factory count floating solar on its own pond as clean power?

Yes. Solar panels on your own reservoir or effluent pond work like rooftop solar: units used on site cut grid purchases, so Scope 2 falls. Keep the generation log. If any units are exported, follow the discom's net or gross metering terms.

Evidence

Side benefit

Shading the pond can cut evaporation. Report that as a water benefit, not a carbon one.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills (CEA grid factor 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh, CO2 Baseline Database version 21.0) and diesel, LPG and gas invoices (IPCC 2006 defaults) into a dated, fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record for each site. Intensity per unit uses the activity count you enter, and estimates are labelled as estimates.
