What evidence does a lender want for a green loan to buy electric delivery vehicles?

A lender will want proof the vehicles are fully electric, a quotation and later the invoices, registration certificates showing electric fuel type, the fuel records of the vehicles they replace as a baseline, a charging plan, and a yearly report of kilometres, kWh and CO2 avoided. Clean transport is an eligible green loan category.

Why EVs qualify

Clean transportation is one of the eligible project categories in the Green Loan Principles, and the RBI Framework for Acceptance of Green Deposits (April 2023) lists clean transportation among the activities banks may fund with green deposits. A loan for battery-electric delivery vehicles fits both, which makes it easy for a bank to label.

After disbursement

Yearly reporting

Report kilometres run, kWh charged from the sub-meter or operator statements, and CO2 avoided against the baseline, while the loan is outstanding. Use the measured figures from the second year onwards, not the projection in the application. If the vehicles also earn a government purchase subsidy, show the cost net of it.

Illustrative impact figure: 20 electric cargo three-wheelers

Mileage and kWh per km are assumptions for the application; report measured figures once the vehicles run.

What Senseible does here

Senseible's green loan readiness check shows how ready your records are for a lender, and Senseible reads the fuel invoices for the baseline and the electricity bills for charging, applying 2.68 kg CO2 per litre of diesel and 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh. The lender makes the credit decision.
