Do LNG-fuelled ships emit methane, and who reports it?

Yes. Some LNG engines let a little unburned methane escape, called methane slip. Methane traps far more heat than CO2 (fossil methane GWP 29.8 under AR6), so slip can erase part of LNG's CO2 advantage. The ship operator reports it in Scope 1; shippers count it in Category 4.

What to ask a carrier

For your report

Use carrier figures that state their scope, or a recognised framework such as GLEC, and say which.

What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps each bill and invoice behind every figure, dated and fingerprinted, so a reviewer can trace a number back to the document it came from.
