What emission factor should I use for refinery fuel gas?

Use the gas composition from your own analysis if you have it, because refinery gas varies with hydrogen, methane and heavier gases. If you do not, the IPCC 2006 default is 57.6 kg CO2 per GJ on a net basis, applied to the energy from your metered volume and heating value.

Best: composition based

From a gas chromatograph analysis, add up the carbon in each component per cubic metre, multiply by metered volume and by 44/12. Gas rich in hydrogen has far less carbon per unit of energy.

Fallback: IPCC default

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and freight invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so each figure you send a buyer can be traced back to the documents behind it.
