Which pollution colour does SIDBI's green loan programme give my sector, and what worker safeguards come with it?
SIDBI's programme table lists food processing, brick kilns, pharmaceuticals, glass and ceramics, and foundries as Orange; textiles, chemicals, leather, pulp and paper, cement, steel re-rolling and sponge iron as Red; rubber and plastics as Orange and Green. Every sector carries minimum wage, protective equipment and safety checks.
Colour by sector, as SIDBI lists it
The colours follow the Central Pollution Control Board categories. Your own unit can differ, because the board classes activities, not whole sectors.
- Orange: food processing, brick kiln, pharmaceuticals, glass and ceramics, foundry.
- Red: textiles, chemicals, leather, pulp and paper, cement, steel re-rolling, sponge iron.
- Orange and Green: rubber and plastics.
Risks and fixes named for several sectors
- Textiles and food processing: water and air pollution, with efficient effluent treatment and air pollution control as the fix.
- Brick kilns: air pollution, with advanced chimneys of adequate stack height and air pollution control instruments.
- Foundries: all sorts of pollution, with efficient effluent treatment under a common facility and air pollution control equipment.
Worker and community safeguards
- Minimum wages paid under the law.
- Protective equipment for workers.
- A grievance mechanism for the unit that covers gender-based violence and sexual harassment.
- Health and safety facilities, especially for emergencies, and an ambulance arrangement.
- Health check-ups through regular camps and, for some sectors, clean usable water to nearby communities for household and farm use.

What Senseible does here
Senseible's green loan check shows how ready your bills and records are for a green loan, and its finance application tool helps you put them in order. It does not approve loans or speak for SIDBI.
