How much power does automatic airflow control in tea withering troughs save?

About 58,000 kWh a year in BEE's Jorhat report: VFDs and a PLC on 20 withering fans across 10 troughs slow the fans as the leaf loses moisture, instead of throttling with dampers. Payback 1.84 years on Rs 7.97 lakh (2010). On the grid the CO2 cut is about 39 t, not the report's 60 t.

Check the arithmetic before you sign

Run the cube rule on the report's own schedule and each fan uses about 13.8 kWh a day, not 12.9. The 75% speed row is low. That gives about 52,700 kWh saved, Rs 3.93 lakh, and a payback near 2.0 years. Real savings are usually a little below the cube rule, because the leaf bed and the drive itself take some power. Meter one trough for a week before and after.

CO2 from the report's 58,176 kWh

Grid at CEA's FY 2025-26 factor and diesel at 2.645 kg a litre. The 3 kWh a litre DG figure is an estimate; use your DG log of litres and kWh.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills and diesel slips into monthly records with CO2, so the fall in withering power, and in DG litres, shows against kg of made tea. The green loan check shows what a lender asks for on a VFD loan.
