Does captured CO2 lower the CBAM figure of UAE blue ammonia?
Only if the capture and the permanent storage meet the CBAM monitoring rules, with the transferred CO2 measured and the storage site recognised. Otherwise the CO2 counts as emitted. Ask your verifier which evidence they will accept before you sell the product as low carbon.
What the claim needs
- Metered tonnes of CO2 captured and transferred, per reporting period.
- Proof the CO2 went to permanent geological storage, not to use in a product that releases it.
- A verifier who has checked the chain.
CO2 used, not stored
CO2 sent to enhanced oil recovery or to make urea or drinks is not permanent storage in the usual sense. Treat it as emitted unless the rules you apply say otherwise.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads your fuel and electricity bills into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions your EU importer asks for, and its CBAM cost calculator estimates certificate cost from 2026 to 2034 for covered goods. Senseible does not verify emissions or file CBAM declarations.
