What are the UK CBAM default values for aluminium wire and ACSR conductor?

HMRC's UK CBAM default for aluminium stranded conductor with a steel core, such as ACSR (7614 10 00), is 3.742 tCO2e per tonne, and 3.217 for other stranded aluminium (7614 90 00). Non-alloy aluminium wire above 7 mm (7605 11 00) is 2.360, and up to 7 mm 3.151.

Defaults

Insulated cable is outside

Heading 7614 covers conductors that are not electrically insulated. Insulated cables sit in chapter 85, which is not on the UK CBAM list.

Your main precursor

Wire rod is the main precursor, and primary and secondary metal carry different emissions. Ask your rod supplier which it is and for its verified figure.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads wire rod purchases by supplier with your annealing fuel, so a conductor maker's own figure can be set against 3.742 or 3.217. We build the figure from your records and check every figure in-house; for the UK it must then be verified by a verifier accredited for UK CBAM. Have your own verifier? Send it to them.
