What are the UK CBAM default values for aluminium containers?

4.430 tCO2e per tonne is HMRC's UK CBAM default for aluminium containers made from foil 0.2 mm or thinner (7612 90 30). Collapsible tubes (7612 10 00) are 4.596, aerosol cans (7612 90 20) 4.288, and other casks, drums and cans up to 300 litres (7612 90 80) 4.887.

Defaults

Foil is your precursor

A foil container maker buys foil. Plain foil from 0.021 to 0.2 mm (7607 11 90) has a default of 4.107. If your foil supplier gives a verified figure, you can use it with your own forming data; if not, the foil goes in at its default.

Per piece, not per tonne

Buyers often ask per container. Divide the tonnes figure by pieces shipped, using the weighed mass of each size.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads foil and slug purchases with your annealing and lacquer curing fuel, so your container figure can be set against 4.430 or 4.596. We build the figure from your records and check every figure in-house; for the UK it must then be verified by a verifier accredited for UK CBAM. Have your own verifier? Send it to them.
